Update on Interconnection Project between Montville Manor and Seven Oaks

Last year the Southeastern Connecticut Water Authority (SCWA) awarded a contract for the construction of a water main to interconnect the Montville Manor Subdivision with the nearby Seven Oaks subdivision.  This project includes the installation of almost 2000 feet of new water main, and the construction of a new booster pump station on Old Colchester Road.

Once complete, this project will provide an additional source of water for Montville Manor and significantly reduce the possibility of water conservation measures during future drought seasons.  This interconnection will also provide redundancy in the unlikely event that the pump station serving Montville Manor should fail.  This $1.3 million project is funded partially through the Federal Infrastructure Act and combination of loan and grant money from the Connecticut Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

The interconnection is expected to be completed and operational by this September 2025.  When the interconnection is turned on customers may experience some discoloration which frequently occurs when flows are reversed in existing water mains.  SCWA crews will be flushing the water mains in Montville Manor prior to interconnecting the two systems in an effort to reduce discoloration.  Any discoloration is the result of naturally occurring chemicals in water and is not hazardous and should flush out by running your water for a few minutes.

SCWA will send out a Code Red message prior to flushing.  If you are not signed up for our Code Red alert system, and would like to receive updates from SCWA regarding flushing, general maintenance, or potential water outages, please visit our website at www.waterauthority.org.
