Lead Service Line Inventory Per Division

What is the Lead Service Line Inventory?  The National Primary Drinking Water Regulations for Lead and Copper, which went into effect in 2021, required all public water systems to develop a lead service line (LSL) inventory identifying all materials used to construct or repair all service lines connected to a public water distribution system.  The objective of the Initial LSL Inventory was to determine if there are any lead pipes in the water distribution system on both the public and customer (private) portions. The deadline to complete the inventories was October 16, 2024, a deadline which SWCA met.  All of the LSL inventories for water systems which SCWA owns and/or operates are listed below.  All of these LSL inventories have been reviewed and approved by the Connecticut State Department of Public Health.

What is a Water Service Line?  The water service line is the pipe infrastructure that supplies water from SCWA’s water main to the customer's building. This line begins at the main connection and connects to the building inlet.  SCWA operates and maintains the pipe from the main up to the curb stop.  The customer's responsibility includes the curb stop and all the pipe downstream going towards the home. These water service lines can be made up of several materials such as lead, galvanized steel, copper, or polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
